Breast Augmentation / Breast Implants

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast Enlargement (Augmentation Mammoplasty) is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. Breast enlargement surgery is one way to make you feel more confident and feminine if you have experienced decreased breast size or sagging following childbirth and breastfeeding or if you were born with small breasts.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

Breast Augmentation involves placing an inflatable implant filled with saline behind the breast tissue through a small incision typically made in the natural crease beneath the breast. You may be a candidate for an incision in a different area and Dr. Lambeth will discuss your options.

What Are Breast Implants?

Breast implants are formed of a silicone shell containing either silicone or saline (salt water). Modern implants have a textured outer shell and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The size and shape most suited to you will be discussed at the time of your consultation.

What Will Be Covered During the Initial Consultation?

At the initial consultation you will be asked your reasons for wishing to undergo Breast Augmentation and what your expectations are from surgery. You will be asked questions about your medical history, whether you are taking any medication or have any drug allergies.

Dr. Lambeth will perform a breast examination to ensure that you do not have any breast lumps, which need to be investigated prior to surgery. Chest measurements will be taken and a note made of the amount of breast tissue, skin tone and bone structure.

Dr. Lambeth will discuss details of the procedure, what to expect during your hospital stay and during your recovery. He will also discuss the potential risks and complications associated with Breast Augmentation surgery. As with any surgery, you will have many questions. Dr. Lambeth will be glad to answer all of your questions during your consultation.
